COLLECTION EXCERPT:
Sorry Not Sorry
I’m sorry
but I don’t think I have
anything
to apologize for.
It was you
who raised your hand,
a surprise in the night
so often I stopped sleeping
naked, because
it made me more vulnerable.
It was you
whose tongue cut,
with edges like slips of shale,
the bite of a whip,
bringing me to my knees.
It was you
who undermined every move,
countered every effort,
like a strategic game of Risk
you didn’t need to win
as long as I was the loser.
